As an integral member of the CFPSA team, the Finance Division provides a number of quality services to bases and wings, including accounting and payroll services, insurance protection for all Non-Public Fund (NPF) assets and activities, and information management and technology services. Currently, we have 188 people, including 30 military positions, at 24 locations across Canada, as well as those at the Ottawa headquarters and in Bosnia. So what do these folks do? Here's a quick description:
Under the Directorate of Accounting and Payroll Services (DAPS), finance is responsible for all NPF accounting services in the field, including those for CANEX and SISIP operations. Finance also handles accounting at Ottawa headquarters. Our structure includes four regional accounting centres (Western, Ontario, Quebec and Maritime), that have been expanded to include an information technology component.
The Directorate of Corporate Information Management Services (DCIMS) looks after all information management/information technology requirements throughout Canada and Europe. This has been a sizeable task, as the NPF network has grown from some 150 work stations to a network of more than 600 computers. That number is expected to grow to 1,000 by the end of 2001. Programs like the NPF Travel Xpert claims program have been introduced in order to better manage and track this process. Watch for more products to come.
Three smaller, specialized sections of the Finance Division round out our activities. These include Investment Accounting Management (AIM), Budget and Risk Management (BRM) and Administrative Assistant (AA). IAM looks after the accounting for Canadian Forces Central Fund (CFCF) investment activities, manages central banking activities and manages the CFCF loans that are made to bases and wings to support their various capital programs. BRM looks after all CFPSA budget requirements and manages the Consolidated Insurance Program (CIP), which provides insurance protection for all NPF assets and activities. The AA provides administrative support.
As you can see, there's a lot going on! While we have, like many other operations, done more with less, it is our goal to continue to maintain our commitment to customer service.
In The Weeds and On The Fairways With NPF Accountants
06 July, 2001 - CFB Borden
Their mission was simple - put the little white ball in the far-away hole. No one said it would be easy, but the Ontario Region accountants gave it their best shot. Under sunny skies, golfers from across Ontario enjoyed playing the Circle Pine Golf Course at CFB Borden. Just take a look at the smiles in the photos!
For the fourth year, the Ontario Region has come together to share their expertise with their fellow accountants. Joining the group were other talents from across the CFPSA spectrum, including CANEX, SISIP, sports and recreation staff.
Post-event analysis took place at the '19th' hole, as golfers reviewed their 'good, bad and ugly' moments.
Many thanks go out to the tournament sponsors, including CANEX, SISIP, Geminaqs, Reed Stenhouse and Molson's, for their support and generosity.
Keep a spot free in July 2002 for the 5th annual get-together.
