We did it and so far so good!
By Yves Rioux
After 20 months of hard work, the nationalization of NPF accounting is now a reality. As of Oct.1, 2004, the four regional accounting offices became national offices, with each assuming ver y specific functions. The western office in Edmonton is taking care of accounts payable. The Borden office is dealing with accounts receivable and collection. The Valcartier office is looking af ter fixed assets and is also looking after the back-up server, while the Atlantic office in Halifax is responsible for preparing the financial statements.
This concept has allowed Bob Smith, CFO and Vice-President Finance and Informatics, and CFO, to retain all permanent staff and the majority of temporary employees. This project is paving the way for a number of changes, including consolidation, customer relationship management and better and faster management financial analysis reports.
The success of this project was due to the outstanding contribution and inventiveness of the current staff. The future looks promising. As they say, The sky is the limit.
