The Canadian Forces (CF) 3rd Military World Games (MWG) team ended a week of intense competition in early December with its best finish ever, taking home five medals, including Canada's first-ever gold.

Second in size only to the Olympics, the 3rd MWG, ran from December 4 to 11, 2003, in Catania, Italy and saw 84 countries and more than 1,900 athletes vying for top spot. Canada finished in 19th place overall.

The Canadian team, sponsored in part by Logistik Unicorp Inc., included approximately 126 CF members and support staff. Under the direction of the contingent organizing committee, the CFPSA, the athletes competed in basketball, marathon, the 10-km race, sailing, swimming, lifesaving and volleyball.
