Four Step Orientation
Step 1 - Pre-Arrival or 1st Day
New employees are welcomed with an Orientation Kit and their Letter of Offer.
Upon arrival, the employee attends a two-hour Orientation Awareness Session with the Human Resources Manager (HRM) to review the Orientation Checklist items and view the orientation DVD.
Step 2 - Work Unit Orientation
Upon arrival, the employee's Manager/Supervisor introduces him/her to their new work environment and reviews any outstanding items on the Key Checklist.
Step 3 - Coaching
New NPF employees meet regularly with their Manager/Supervisor to ask questions and discuss progress.
A 'coach', who is an experienced co-worker, may be assigned to help with the employees orientation and integration into the workplace.
Step 4 - Corporate Training
Within three months of employment, NPF employees participate in a formal Corporate Orientation session, which includes various workshops and/or training in the areas of Human Rights/Harassment Prevention, Official Languages, Health and Safety, and Crowning the Customer.
