Grievances
The Canadian Forces Personnel and Family Support Services (CFPFSS)/Non Public Funds (NPF) is committed to supporting the rights of employees to grieve whenever they believe that the Employer has erred in applying terms and conditions of employment or interpreting the Collective Agreement.
Regardless of their location, language requirements of their positions or duties, employees have the right to present a grievance in the official language of their choice. Grievances will be handled in the language in which they were presented.
The grievance process consists of two steps:
- Informal discussion; and
- Formal grievance procedure
Employees are encouraged to try to resolve issues through the informal discussion stage by discussing their concerns with their supervisor, manager or their NPF Human Resources (HR) Manager. If the issue is not resolved at that level, employees may choose to file a formal grievance in accordance with the terms of their Collective Agreement or NPF Human Resources Policy and Procedures (HRPOL). For questions regarding the grievance process, unionized employees should consult with their union representative or shop steward and non-unionized employees should consult NPF HRPOL.
