APPENDIX 1, ANNEX B, CHAPTER 9
USING THE DRAWCHEQUE SERVICE
HOURS OF OPERATION
Using the new Drawcheque (transfer) service is as easy as making a telephone call. Drawcheque uses the technology called "Interactive Voice Response" (IVR). Your outlets simply telephone 1-800-265-0007, which is a toll-free number from anywhere in Canada. Hours of operation for the service are as follows:
the telephone will be answered by the IVR system between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. EST, seven days a week, including weekends and National and Provincial Holidays;
between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. EST, Monday to Friday, we provide the option to speak to a bilingual operator. Please note: if any of your outlets are located in areas which do not provide Touch Tone service and (or) only have rotary dial phones, they will be asked to use the operator service;
calls which are completed prior to 7:00 p.m. EST on bank business days Monday to Friday will initiate a transfer which will transfer funds on that business day. Calls that are completed after 7:00 p.m. EST will produce transfers on the next business day. Transfer details which are communicated anytime between 7:00 p.m. Friday and 6:59 p.m. EST Monday will produce transfers on Monday's date;
the service will be answered by the IVR on the appointed hours on National Bank Holidays. The transfer will be produced on the following business day;
Please note: the service will be answered by the IVR on the first Monday of August, which is a Provincial Holiday. Transfers will not be processed on that day however, regardless of the Province where the call was initiated; and
you may find that you have incorrectly communicated transfer details using the system after the telephone call has been terminated. The system provides the capability to reverse the transaction on the same business day. To perform a reversal transaction, the reversal call must be completed by 7:00 p.m. EST on the day that the transfer was initially initiated.
OPERATING PROCEDURES
The IVR will always follow the same sequence. If you choose to speak with an operator, the sequence of prompts will be identical to those on the IVR.
The key prompts are as follows:
you will be asked whether you would prefer service in English or French, or to speak to an operator;
the unique 8-digit customer ID must be entered. If after three tries, the correct number has not been keyed in, the system will automatically terminate the call;
the system will verify that a correct ID Number has been entered. You will now be asked to select whether you are initiating a Drawcheque (Transfer) or cancelling a Drawcheque (reversal), which can only be done on the same business day;
the system will then ask for the amount which is to be transferred. Please input the amount in dollars and cents, followed by the number sign (#) located to the right of the zero on the telephone key pad;
the system will repeat the amount entered for verification;
-
the system will ask you to confirm the amount, change the amount or terminate the call. If the call is terminated, there will be no record of the call. The choices are:
Enter: "1" to confirm that this amount is correct, "2" to terminate the call, or "3" to change the amount; when all of the information has been entered and accepted, the system will provide a verification number, based on the amount entered. Please ensure that this number is recorded, as it will be required if any tracing is necessary;
-
the system will then ask you if you wish to enter another Drawcheque, or end the session. The choices are:
Enter: "4" to end this call, or "5" to initiate another transaction; and if you have completed your transactions for the day, please enter "4" to end the call.
REVERSAL TRANSACTION
The procedures to initiate reversal transactions are essentially the same as those used to initiate Drawcheques. Please note: transactions can only be reversed on the same business day in which they were initiated. The call to reverse the transaction must be completed prior to 7:00p.m. EST.
The procedures are the same as those to initiate a Drawcheque, up until the point where you are asked whether you are "reporting" or "cancelling" a Drawcheque. At this point you will select "2" to cancel a Drawcheque. Procedures from this point are as follows:
you will now be asked to enter the amount in dollars and cents exactly as you entered it before, followed by the number sign;
the system will repeat the amount to be cancelled;
-
the system will ask if this is the correct sum to be cancelled;
Enter: "1" to confirm the amount, "2" to change the amount, or "3" to end the call without cancelling the transfer; the system will repeat the amount which has been cancelled. It will provide a cancellation verification number; and
the system will then terminate the call.
