DGPFSS Ethical Principles Policy
The practice of ethical conduct is a fundamental quality upon which every society, organization and person is judged. As employees of the Staff of the Non-Public Funds, Canadian Forces (or NPF employees), our accomplishments will also be judged according to our conduct. It is therefore extremely important that we achieve our goals through conduct that is ethical; otherwise, we diminish our purpose, our successes and indeed, ourselves. Throughout the years, our ethical policy framework has evolved. A review was recently conducted with a view to modernize the approach and focus upon a set of ethical principles that encourage ethical conduct. The ethical principles that form the backbone of the revised policy provide an overarching framework to guide conduct and to ensure that it conforms to the values we have identified. The new Ethical Principles policy is provided for dissemination and application. The policy applies to all employees of the Staff of the NPF, CF and it must be understood by all who work with, manage, or provide direction to NPF employees wherever they are employed. Managers and supervisors will have a special role to play to ensure that this policy is understood and practiced by everyone, including themselves. Our individual performance must be consistent with our message, which is that we believe in ethical conduct and we practice it. Our objective is to promote and maintain a level of excellence, a working environment and a public reputation that is characterized by our ethical conduct. We are confident that we can earn the trust and integrity that will be the standard by which our clients will recognize us and upon which we will be known. Inquiries with respect to this policy should be directed to the DGPFSS Ethics and Human Rights & Harassment Prevention Advisor, Mr. Roger Young, who can be reached at (613) 996-3866.
