Be the Change
Protection of our individual rights is everybody’s responsibility. Everybody has a stake in it. This fundamental concept is central to the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was adopted unanimously by all member nations, including Canada, on December 10, 1948.
Wednesday, December 10th, 2008, marks the
60th anniversary of that very important milestone event.
Over the past 60 years, Canada has spearheaded the way throughout the world as a champion protector of Human Rights. In keeping with the spirit of this very important anniversary and Canada’s role, the Human Rights and Harassment Prevention unit with CFPFSS, has initiated a
“Be the change” campaign to publicize and promote individual involvement and participation. Whatever you can do personally to improve things will make a real difference. When is the last time you led by example to change and improve your work environment? Tell us about it!
Building and promoting a respectful work environment is something that requires everybody’s attention and cooperation. By focusing on what you could do to make the work environment more respectful, you could blaze a trail for others to follow. Just think, what a different work environment it could be if everyone in it did just one thing to make it better? More respect means less conflict and less conflict means less harassment. That benefits everybody. Just ask yourself, is there anything I can do myself to “Be the change”? Now is your chance to share your creative ideas, have some fun and make it happen.
