Directorate of Communications unveils new Graphic Standards Manual

By S. Webster

If you’re planning on producing CFPSA (HQ) or CFPSA B/W/U promotional materials of any sort, the Directorate of Communications’ new graphic standards will guide you in the process.

“In anticipation of this new manual we started the implementation of the new graphic standards early last year,” Brigitte Smiley, CFPSA Communications Manager, explains. All of the recent pieces created through the Directorate of Communications reflect the new graphic standards. The cornerstone agency pieces that follow the new standards include: CFPSA at a glance brochure, CFPSA pull-up banners, and PowerPoint templates.

Although the Graphic Standards Manual has been carefully planned, any unanticipated applications may be dealt with in conjunction with the Directorate of Communications team.

Mrs. Smiley says that everyone using the new graphic standards should be aware of the corporate look and feel. She advises anyone creating new publications to review the new colour palette and to work closely with the Directorate of Communications in the production of any new collateral to ensure proper logo use and placement.

Initially, the biggest challenge will be for everyone to read the manual. The 49 pages begin with an explanation of the rationale of the recommended logo use. The document later includes a succinct table of contents, which lends to its simplicity as a quick reference guide. The manual is available on the CFPSA web site and is to be used as a tool for those working on producing items from pens to pamphlets, to business cards and letterhead. It even outlines the format for your email signature block.

According to the new graphic standards, “the responsibility for the correct application of the CFPSA identity rests with all Non-public fund (NPF) employees at CFPSA Ottawa and on bases, wings and units, as appropriate.”

This is one of many steps towards a unified brand to enhance the CFPSA look and feel.
