Ideal golf for an ideal cause
A cool breeze, blue skies and lush greens are the perfect combination for golf. On 2 July 2010 participants at the Chief Warrant Officers (CWO) and Chief Petty Officers 1 Class (CPO1) National Capital Region (NCR) Inaugural Golf Tournament enjoyed an ideal day of golf while supporting an ideal cause, the Military Family Resource Centre of the National Capital Region (MFRC-NCR).
Tournament organizer CPO1 Luc Tremblay was pleased to present a cheque to Manuela Lacroix, President of the MFRC-NCR Board of Directors for the amount of $1255.00.
“On behalf of the MFRC-NCR, I would like to express our heartfelt appreciation and thank you for this most generous contribution,” remarked Manuela Lacroix, President of MFRC-NCR Board of Directors. “Due to the increased fast tempo, the demand for services and programs has increased. The money raised through the golf tournament today will enable us to supplement our children services, youth services and deployment services.”
In addition to the tournament donation, the Canadian Defence Community Banking program (CDCB) and BMO Bank of Montreal donated $5 for every tournament participant and presented a cheque for $425.00. “BMO Bank of Montreal is a great partner for CDCB,” said CWO Jean Boivin. “Thanks to their partnership with the Canadian Defence Community, we are able to support programs like the MFRC-NCR.”
“The success of this golf tournament was possible because of the volunteerism and the tournament donation from BMO Bank of Montreal,” added Lacroix. “Thank you for believing in our Military Families, the strength behind the uniform and the strength behind the Military Families is its community. Thank you to all CWOs and CPO1s.”
Prizes were awarded to the first place team and the most honest team. The results will be marked in history on the CFCWO CUP. In a fine gesture of generosity, CWO (ret’d) Jacques Beauregard, returned his winnings of the 50/50 draw to the MFRC-NCR making the total funds raised $1,910.00.
“I thank CPO1 Luc Tremblay and all the volunteers who helped make this tournament a success,” said Canadian Forces Chief Warrant Officer Greg Lacroix. “It’s great to see everyone and we anticipate even greater participation next year.”
