Word from the Director General

Welcome to the November edition of our online MW Team Update, the newsletter for all those who develop, deliver, and facilitate MW services, programs and activities.

As Remembrance Day and the 91st anniversary of the end of World War I just went by, it is a time for all of us to reflect on the many Canadians who have gone before us and made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country. It is a time to reflect on the sacrifices that continue to be made by those who serve today in Canada’s armed forces, and by their families.

It is also a time to acknowledge the important and beneficial contribution that all of you make in supporting CF operations, and enhancing the quality of life of CF personnel and their families. Your efforts are integral to the very high standards of personnel and family support services that are expected and, indeed, deserved by the men and women in uniform. Whether in the field or in HQ, from the many services and programs provided through DCSM, PSP, SISIP FS and CANEX to the critical enabling support provided by NPF HR, NPP Finance and Accounting, NPP IT, and administrative services, the focus must always remain on the needs of the Canadian Forces, and specifically its personnel and their families. You may all take pride in your collective ability to do this extremely well – and to remain relevant, responsive and highly effective in achieving this, despite the many pressures and challenges that arise. The personnel and family support programs and services that we have in Canada today are among the best in the world – our collective challenge is not to stop there, but rather to continue to improve and innovate in order to provide the very best support we can to serving and former CF personnel, and their families, into tomorrow and beyond.

As always, I invite you to submit morale and welfare-related articles and photos for use in this bulletin. Your feedback on its content is welcome and always appreciated.

Brigadier-General D.E. Martin (Ret’d)
