Word from the Director General

Welcome to the March edition of our online MW Team Update, the newsletter for all those who develop, deliver, and facilitate MW services, programs and activities.

This edition features a number of articles that you will find of interest in your roll in Serving Those Who Serve regardless of whether you are a member of the Canadian Forces, a Dept. of National Defense civilian or a Staff of the Non-Public Funds, Canadian Forces civil servant.

As providers of services, regardless of whether we are dealing with Public Funds or Non-Public Funds, it is important that we act responsibly and efficiently with the resources that have been entrusted into our care. Public Funds are those derived from the Canadian taxpayers. Non-Public Funds have their origins in the activities of our peers, the members of the Canadian Forces and of their families.

Accountability and responsibility will also be important themes of the NPF Base Commander’s Symposium that is scheduled for April 27-29 in Valleyfield, QC. These sessions will provide CF Leadership with an opportunity to better understand the benefits of Non-Public Property as well as the roles and responsibilities associated with its usage. I look forward to meeting and speaking with the attendees.

As always, I invite you to submit morale and welfare-related articles and photos for use in this bulletin. Your feedback on its content is welcome and always appreciated.

Brigadier-General D.E. Martin (Ret’d)
Director General Personnel and Family Support Services
