The 2008 DND Photography Contest was once again a big hit with participants and contest fans! Some of this year’s highlights include:

  • For the first time, the contest was in a digital format, making it more accessible to all members of the CF community.  The number of participants increased by more than 50% to 329 and the number of submissions more than doubled from the previous year to 2114;
  • The revamped online People’s Choice Award attracted close to 3000 voters;
  • More than $30,000 in prizes were awarded to our winners and contest participants by our sponsors;
  • Major Award winners were honoured by the Deputy Minister of National Defence at NDHQ during the Major Awards Luncheon and Opening Ceremonies;
  • A new category, Animals, was added to allow for additional participation and recognition of our talented photographers!

We would like to congratulate the 2008 DND Photography Contest winners. All winning photos, including the People’s Choice Award winning photo that you voted for, are available for viewing at: www.dndphotocontest.ca.

The DND Photography Contest is open to amateur and professional photographers of the Defence Community including NPF employees.  The event is organized by Canadian Forces Imagery Services and the Director General Personnel and Family Support Services under the auspices of the Deputy Minister of National Defence. For additional rules and information please visit: www.dndphotocontest.ca or call (613) 990-2305.

This year’s contest opens on 1 May 2009.
